The basic mission of today's National Museum Zadar encompasses the systematic collecting, safekeeping, exhibiting, documenting and the professional and scientific processing of mobile and immobile objects of the civilizational, cultural and natural heritage that has come into being in the period since the XIIIth century down to the present day. The area of interest and research is the Zadar district or, more broadly, northern Dalmatia with its islands and its immediate mainland hinterland (Bukovica, the area beneath the Velebit mountain chain, Ravni kotari).

A beautifully preserved little Romanesque church, consecrated in 1175, originally belonging to a Benedictine monastery that once stood nearby.

The church of St Simeon is located in historic quarters of Zadar: near the Roman entrance to ancient Jadera. The tiny square is one of my most favorite places in the World! Small, quiet, historic… just radiates with harmony! I cannot explain it, but it simply shines with tranquility. The church of St Simeon (Sveti Šime) was originally an old Christian three-nave basilica, then a Gothic adaptation and finally an important monument of provincial baroque.

A painting of Our Lady of the Fortress painted by Blaz Jurjev of Trogir, dating from the 15th century, was kept there (today it is part of the Permanent Ecclesiastical Art exhibition). It has a great reputation and is popular amongst many generations of Zadar's inhabitants.

Founded in 1066 by a Zadar noblewoman, and belonging to a closed order of Benedictine nuns, the church was fundamentally rebuilt during the 16th century in the Renaissance spirit, but retains its Dalmatian aspect with its rounded gables. It has a fine Baroque interior with remnants of early Romanesque frescoes. The adjoining convent buildings contain the remarkable Permanent Exhibition of Religious Art (see The Silver and Gold of the City of Zadar ), and a beautiful cloistered garden only visible from the museum's interior. As well as being the guardians of the city's treasures, the nuns are extremely skilled at fine mending and do it for free. Bless!

Deze oude stadsmuren dateren van de 16de eeuw en hebben verschillende torens en een ingangspoort aan de zee en aan land.

Dit is de kleinste kathedraal ter wered.

Het museum is een van de nieuwste attracties van de stad. Het is gevestigd in het 19e eeuwse Cosmacendi paleis en heeft een aantal prachtige uitzichten over de Jazine haven.

In 1972 werd de permanente tentoonstelling van religieuze kunst hier gevormd, dit is een van de meest waardige tentoonstellingen in Kroatië. In de volksmond wordt het "Het Goud en Zilver van Zadar" genoemd.

Due to a number of hotel resorts, Borik is a popular tourist beach with shallow bay and sandy bottom ideal for children. The surrounding area has a number of facilities, including shops and restaurants. One of the busiest of Zadar’s beaches due to the resorts near by. Should you be able to creep into one, (wrist bands required) you can have a go on one of their large water-slides.

Uskok aka Vitrenjak is a pebble beach with deck chairs and a volleyball court. For those seeking a quieter area to relax, this beach offers large rocks for you to find a private spot and sunbathe. The rocks are natures own deed, therefore its untouched by human hand.

Below Hotel Kolovare is a long pebble beach, one of the oldest and most beloved beaches in Zadar. Above the beach is a green area, ideal for playing for your children while you are looking for protection from the sun in the shade of pine trees.

Named since WWII after one of the most famous Croatian writers, Zadar’s biggest park lies on top of the city’s biggest fort, just east of the peninsula and the Land Gate. It was created in 1888-90 by an Austrian deputy, Dragutin Blažeković, born to a noble family in Osijek (east Croatia).

The Square is located on a site between the medieval City Walls with a cornice and the Renaissance bastion Grimani where the city park is situated. In the Middle Ages there was a defence ditch. During the 16th century, the Venetians helped the city withstand Turkish sieges by building a large drinking water cistern with five ornamental wellheads, after which the square was named.

Pozdrav Suncu of Greetings to the Sun is een gigantische cirkel met een diameter van 22 meter bestaande uit verschillende zonnepanelen. 's Nachts zullen deze panelen veranderen in een spectaculaire lichtshow.

Morske Orgulje of Sea Organ is een orgaan dat muziek kan maken aan de hand van de golven van de zee. Het is een 70 meter lang orgaan met 35 orgelpijpen.

Deze Romaanse kathedraal is gebouwd tijdens de 12de en 13de eeuw. De kathedraal zijn voorgevel is interessant vanwege zijn drie deuren, bogen, en roosvensters. Binnen is een ingetogen stenen hoofdaltaar en een kleiner zijaltaar dat de overblijfselen van zijn heilige naamgenoot bevat. Maar het is de kathedraal zijn vrijstaande 15e-eeuwse klokkentoren die de meeste aandacht trekt, want je kunt naar de top klimmen via een trap om dan te genieten van een prachtig uitzicht over de stad.
